The 6 Laws of Mind

Thoughts

John Kehoe speaks of the 6 laws of the Mind.  He believes if we can embrace them as part of understanding of life, we can change our lives and create whatever we wish.

The first law, “Thoughts are real forces” tells us that every thought we have has an energy attached and impacts onto our lives.

It is something we know at an intellectual level and talk about in our Mindfulness practice, but to recognise each and every thought has an energy attached and which creates our reality is sobering.

As a teacher and a healer it is those thoughts about other people whom I have been assisting with, that I suddenly realised I needed to control.  I had to begin to trust that working with my intuition and awareness was doing the best I could in that moment and that is all I am asked to do.  And therefore the post treatment reflection, had to be short, detailed and final

Becoming truly aware of each thought brings amazing freedom.  It is suddenly, whaaaat, why am I thinking that?  I have begun to recognise just how much energy and power I have been giving to things I can not impact but that have been impacting on my peace of mind.  what a wonderful realisation.

Journey to awareness

“Awareness allows us to get outside of our mind and
observe it in action.”
Dan Brule

As I started on this journey, I decided I was going to totally dedicate myself to this work for 6 months and not read too widely or seek too many other opinions.  This for me is very difficult as I am a bit of an information junkie and I love new ideas.  But there is also a lot of freedom around this choice.  It gave me the space to really engage and to bring it into all walks of my life.

The first simple understanding John Kehoe gives us, is we live in 2 worlds.  An inner world and an outer world.  The inner world is our thoughts and our outer world is the physical, ‘whats happening in my life’, at this moment. Often these two worlds aren’t in sync.  He gives the easiest example of this when he spoke of how often when we are driving our cars, that our minds are anywhere other than being fully present in the car.

He suggested every day we set an alarm to check in on where our thoughts are. Are they fully present with whatever we are doing at that moment?  I have done this numerous times before but the challenge this time was to recognise if I was living in my inner world in some kind of reaction to my outer world.  Was I at any time still mulling over something that happened a couple of hours previously?  Ooops and I was.

Just looking at Mindfulness through the eyes of MindPower is really refreshing and has already shown me many areas I can improve and change.  It has really given me a lift. So many of the things I love about Mindfulness are taking on a new energy with the view through the Mindpower lens.

The Connection

I love listening to you tube talks, especially anything inspiring and I came upon an interview with John Kehoe.  He was talking about knowing ourselves.  What we are  thinking about at any given moment, as those thoughts will be creating our reality.

I have heard these words many times before.  I teach it, but like most people I have my blind spots.

I often have disharmony in my life.  People being disrespectful. Just crazy things where I had been asking myself, why are these things happening to me.  I teach, when we are confronted with life, negativity, we always look to ourselves first.  Where am I, am I creating this.

I have a passion for social justice.  I believe in fair play and that everyone is treated equally.  So if I observe injustice I would often worry about it and try to find a way to do something about it.  So something I saw yesterday might be still rolling around in my mind the next day.  Your right, not a good advertisement for mindfulness.  As I listened to John and was pondering over his words, I observed a negative incident and immediately went into ‘fix it’ mode and the light flashed on.

What we focus on, we attract back to ourselves.  And anything that has an emotion attached becomes magnetised and attracts the same energy back to us.  Hmmmmm

My journey really began.

The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton

As I begin my journey as a blogger I feel a little trepidation but I know this is one more small change in my life and like so many other changes in the past, it will have its positive and negative moments.  All of which will bring new learning and understanding.

I am a passionate meditation teacher and healer.   I have been meditating for many years and have found my world view, (both inner and outer) challenged and re framed numerous times over the journey.

At the end of 2018, I felt a little overwhelmed by life.   The death of a very loved Dad, the birth of 3 beautiful grandchildren and another death of a treasured friend had left me feeling really out of sorts.

Meditation had always given me that balance I desired.  No matter what chaos or busyness was in my life I knew I could find that peaceful sanctuary  within and cope.  But not this time.  I became tired, unwell and generally put off by life.  I did not like who I was becoming.

They say our teacher always appears when we need them and mine is John Kehoe.  Mind Power of the 21st Century.  I read Mind Power many years ago and embraced some of the teachings but only in a superficial way.  This is my journey with John, regaining my sense of self.
